Company HistoryIan established Plymouth Homes in September 1999 after working for Halifax Property Services and completing his professional exams at the College of Estate Management at Reading University. Initially with his business partner, Susan Tamblyn, Ian started his business from empty premises on Mutley Plain and he still operates from the same offices today. Starting with no properties to sell, Ian and Susan worked hard to build a property portfolio and quickly gained a reputation for quality service and delivering on their promises.
In 2004 the first step in expanding the business came to fruition when they successfully opened their second office on a prominent corner of the busy shopping district of Crownhill. This increased prominence and the unique combination of a Mutley Plain and Crownhill office catapulted Plymouth Homes to one of the largest and most successful estate agents in the Plymouth area. Throughout this period their team of highly skilled estate agents grew steadily and the company’s reputation become even stronger.
Following the introduction of Energy Performance Certificates in 2007, Ian and two of the Company’s valuers undertook the required training and examinations to be able to produce the reports and qualified on their first attempt! The requirement for an Energy Performance Certificate remains and Ian and Clive still provide these for Plymouth Homes clients today.
In 2013 Susan took the decision that she wished to retire so Ian bought her half of the Company and now has sole ownership of Plymouth Homes. This allowed new opportunities and Plymouth Homes underwent a subtle and gradual re-brand.
With a renewed focus on expansion and business growth, Ian decided that Plymouth Homes should launch a lettings arm to the business and this was launched in March 2014. With a continued emphasis on providing the best level of customer care and ensuring that all staff are fully qualified and equipped with the best skills, Ian felt the best way to embrace the lettings market was to do so with a new Lettings Director focused purely on this sector of the business. Ian had known Jacqui Courtier for some time and felt she had the right skills to develop and run a highly successful lettings business. Jacqui has 21 plus years letting experience and is a member of ARLA Propertymark, The National Landlords Accreditation Scheme (NLAS); and The Property Ombudsman (TPO). The combination of Jacqui’s experience and Plymouth Homes reputation has created a Lettings business with an enviable property portfolio and a constant demand for their services
